REN21 is supported by a Secretariat which is located in Paris, France.
The REN21 Secretariat
- supports the Steering Committee as it further develops the Network
- acts in the service of the work programme as agreed by the Steering Committee
- coordinates the outreach of the Network
- provides substantive support to the Steering Committee
- supports the working proceedures of the Network's thematic issue
groups
- provides organisation and logistics for events
- maintains the website and public relations products of
the Network
- performs necessary 'back-office' functions, such as finance,
administration/funding
The REN21 Secretariat is provided by GTZ and UNEP.
In facilitating the functioning of the Secretariat, GTZ and UNEP work in
close collaboration with IEA and will also link up with an organisation
representing developing countries which has yet to be determined.

Virginia Sonntag-O’Brien, Head of the Secretariat, joined the
REN21 Secretariat in 2007 after having served on its Steering
Committee for two years. Her areas of expertise include renewable
energy finance and investment and local government energy and
climate policy. |

Rana Adib, industrial engineer, has been working since 1997 as project
manager in the area of renewable energies, water and solid waste
management. She currently supports the organisational development of
the REN21 network and participant relations. |

Diana Kraft, environmental scientist, previously worked for both
private and public institutions in the field of sustainable energy
and sustainable management since 2002, the last four years with
specific focus on international and development cooperation. As
project manager she joined the REN21 secretariat in 2010 to support
key process and publications of the REN21 network, such as the REN21
Global Status Report. |

Alexandra Parvulescu is an intern at the REN21 Secretariat,
supporting the implementation and development of new communication
strategies. Alexandra has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science
and is currently studying Communications within a master programme. |

Evan Musolino is an intern at the REN21
Secretariat working on the data implementation and update of the
Renewables Interactive Map. Evan has a Bachelors degree in
Political Science from the University of Vermont and is currently
studying towards a Masters degree in International Relations at the
American Graduate School in Paris. |
