Global RENdez-vous: Air Pollution – How Renewables Can Tackle This Challenge

Air Pollution: How Renewables Can Tackle This Challenge

Wednesday 12 May 2021
Time: 2:00pm – 3:30pm CEST

Last year’s lockdowns gave us a flavour of clean air and clear skies. With air pollution causing one in five premature deaths, clean air is high on the political agenda. Renewable energy is part of the solution to cleaner air and healthier environments; yet is not considered a cornerstone of the strategy.

Where does renewable energy fit into the discussion of combating air pollution? How can we raise awareness of the role of renewable energy? And what opportunities exist to support the world’s journey to a cleaner and healthier environment?

The RENdez-vous on Air Pollution was a discussion about the effect it has on public health and well-being, and how renewables can tackle this challenge.

The event included brief presentations from leading voices from across the public health and renewable energy sectors. This was followed by an extensive Q&A and discussion with the audience. The small group discussions provided an opportunity to network and have engaging dialogues to learn how we can strategically collaborate towards clean air, a healthy environment and in making the energy transition happen.

What is a RENdez-vous?

REN21 hosts these events to inspire and to offer opportunities to learn and share across sectors. While each event is unique, one thing remains consistent: at every RENdez-vous there is time to meet and network with people from the greater renewables community, inclusive of many different sectors.
